MemberOctober 30, 2023 at 5:18 pm in reply to: Add parts and labor to a finished goods part::We ran into the same thing and tried using Assembly Orders as Brad mentioned, but it became very confusing for people to switch back and forth between Assembly and Production Orders, and knowing when to do so.
Ultimately, we transitioned to only using production orders, and creating separate part numbers during the manufacturing process. In our scenario, it’s not the final FG part number if you’re still actively working on it, so we have child part numbers that are used internally and only convert it to the FG Number when it’s 100% done.
This method really helped streamline our manufacturing process.

Answered my own question for anyone else who was wondering:

Set up currencies and exchange rates in Dynamics 365 Business Central - Training
If you want to know how to start using foreign currencies in Business Central, follow along with this module, which explains how to create currencies and enter exchange rates.

MemberSeptember 11, 2023 at 5:13 pm in reply to: SMTP error when releasing purchase orders::I’m not too familiar with that particular error, but I know we had some issues using SMTP and anonymous authentication when we were on NAV 2017. I think you might be correct @heatherwalters in that it could be due to the deprecation of that feature from MS. We had some other systems where SMTP stopped working recently, and updating them to not use anonymous authentication solved our issues.

I’d recommend joining the webinars that @gregalford and @Lewis_Rosenberg have been putting on. You’ll really learn a lot from these about the different capabilities of BC, and why people make add-ons.
@jessie-picard mentioned our monthly User Group (UG) meetings, and that’s another great resource.
If you want to take BC for a test drive, you can install it locally (for free) by using this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=105113 – I’ve found that this helped me learn BC immensely when just getting started!
If you have any specific question, feel free to ask them here and we’d be happy to help you out!

MemberAugust 29, 2023 at 1:25 pm in reply to: Purchase Quotes / Purchase Orders and Approval Workflows::@Lewis_Rosenberg Thanks, it’s good to know I wasn’t missing something about this functionality. I’ve also noticed that only purchase orders flow into Cash Flow Forecasting, not quotes, so that’s something to keep in mind.
I agree that it doesn’t make sense to use Purchase Quotes if you just have to get the PO approved again.
@davidwiser – Great tip!

MemberAugust 25, 2023 at 4:23 pm in reply to: Sales & Receivables Setup – Copy Customer Names To Entries::I don’t recall which version of BC this was released in, but I found it in BC 21 and enabled it in all of the setups that @TiffanyCollums464 mentioned!
Once enabled, it will create a job queue entry that will update all historical transactions, and the ones moving forward. You do have the ability to not update previous entries if you do not want to.
I can’t think of a downside to having this turned on. When we did it, everyone was much happier!
