Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat continues to evolve with the updates from April and May 2025, bringing significant improvements to your daily workflow. From smarter prompts and better mobile design to audio overviews and multi-agent intelligence, Copilot Chat is becoming more intuitive, accessible, and deeply integrated into how we get work done.

Here’s a breakdown of the latest features you should know about.

Smarter Interactions with Copilot Chat

Recurring and Tailored Prompts

Let’s face it, repeating the same requests to your AI assistant can get old fast. Now, with recurring prompts, you can automate frequent queries in Copilot Chat and customize them to match your exact workflow. Whether it’s a daily project status check or a weekly report summary, you can manage these prompts directly in Copilot without jumping through hoops. Less typing, more doing.

Enhanced Chat History

Need to pick up where you left off? The new chat history experience makes that easy. Conversations are now grouped by date and searchable by keyword. It’s a small tweak that makes a big difference, especially when juggling multiple projects or teams.

Seamless Integration with Microsoft 365

Direct Access to SharePoint and OneDrive Folders

One of the most useful updates: Copilot Chat can now directly reference folders in SharePoint and OneDrive for Business. That means less clicking around and more time getting things done. You can easily pull in content, ask Copilot questions about what’s in a folder, and collaborate on shared materials without ever leaving the chat.

AI-Generated Audio Overviews

If you’ve ever wished your AI could read that Word document to you while you grab a coffee, your wish just came true. Starting in mid-May, Copilot can generate audio summaries of Word documents, PDFs, and Teams meetings (as long as the transcript is stored in OneDrive). This is perfect for multitaskers and a big win for accessibility.

Enhanced Mobile Experience

Revamped Microsoft 365 Copilot App

Copilot Chat is getting a serious mobile glow-up. In the newly redesigned app:

  • “OneDrive” becomes Search
  • “Copilot” becomes Chat
  • A brand-new tab, called “Create,” lets you launch into secure AI chat, generate content, or find files quickly

These changes are rolling out now and aim to make working from your phone just as powerful as from your desktop.

Improved Accessibility Features

Voice Dictation and Read-Aloud Capabilities

Accessibility continues to be a focus for Microsoft. Copilot Chat is rolling out voice dictation, so you can speak your prompts aloud, which is ideal for hands-free productivity. Even better? Copilot can now read its responses out loud, giving users another way to engage with content, especially on the go or for users with visual impairments.

Advanced Tools for Developers and Enterprises

Copilot Tuning + Multi-Agent Orchestration

Announced at Microsoft Build 2025, Copilot Tuning is a low-code solution that allows organizations to fine-tune their Copilot experience using internal data, processes, and tone of voice without needing a dev team.

Alongside that, multi-agent orchestration introduces AI agents that work together on complex tasks. Think of it as delegating to a whole team of assistants that know your business.

Meet “Researcher” and “Analyst” Agents

Part of the Copilot Wave 2 spring release, these new agents are built to help users tackle advanced tasks: Researcher gathers and summarizes data from multiple sources while Analyst breaks down datasets, trends, and metrics.

These agents are available in the new Agent Store, which also includes integrations with tools like Jira, Miro, and Monday.com.

Expanded Availability and Security Enhancements

Big news for public sector and regulated environments: Copilot Chat is now generally available in the GCC Moderate environment for eligible Microsoft 365 and Office 365 subscriptions. It includes the same AI power, plus added enterprise-grade security and data protection.

Looking Ahead

Every month, Microsoft continues to push Copilot Chat forward. These updates prove the focus is on personalization, integration, and real usability. Whether you’re automating tasks with tailored prompts, getting AI-generated summaries on the go, or orchestrating agents to handle complex workflows, Copilot Chat is becoming a central hub for how modern work happens.

If these features are any indication, the second half of 2025 is going to be a big one.
