Highlights

00:43 — Every organization needs robust cybersecurity solutions in place. In a recent blog post from Microsoft, it’s estimated that by 2025, the global cost of cybercrimes will reach $10.5 trillion — up from $3 trillion in 2015. With these stats in mind, the importance of the Microsoft Security Copilot becomes even more critical.

02:06 — Microsoft Security Copilot “allows security teams to condense all of that data from all these alerts and crucial insights, really navigate through that, and then identify cybersecurity threats proactively. That really helps them strengthen their security posture in future threats.”

03:36 — Additionally, Microsoft has revamped its Microsoft Defender Cloud, calling it Microsoft Defender XDR. Microsoft Security Copilot and Microsoft Defender XDR are two distinct products. Defender XDR is a cloud-native extended detection and response solution, using AI and automation to “check things and then respond to those threats in real-time.” Microsoft Security Copilot is a generative AI tool to help security analysts investigate and respond to security incidents more efficiently.

“So the other one is to detect all of these things. The other one is how to respond.”

04:48 — Artificial intelligence can be used as a preventative tool, but AI itself must be secure in and of itself.

“In 2024, I think we’ll continue to see more purpose-built AI solutions to really help not only democratize AI, but really take advantage of the capabilities of AI, like in this case for security.”
