AI Agent & Copilot Podcast: Using Copilot in Power Platform with Nick Doelman
In this episode of the AI Agent & Copilot Podcast, Shawn Dorward hosts Nick Doelman, Power Platform Specialist, Trainer, Coach, Microsoft MVP, for a discussion on Copilot in Power Platform.
Key Takeaways
- AI uses: Like everyone, Nick has had ChatGPT open often. As a user of Microsoft business applications, he also has Microsoft Copilot up and running. As a freelancer, he utilizes AI tools for day-to-day tasks, including aligning and rebranding projects. “These tools are my thought partners as I began to work through that and building notebooks and working with designers on branding,” he shares.
- Development in Power Pages: Nick has been hands-on with Power Platform. He’s been working on customized web templates and other related projects in Power Pages, for instance. “For those who have done development in Power Pages, once you get to the development side, there’s a lot of liquid…to build out some specialized functionality and user interfaces,” he notes. He has used Copilot to identify elements that need to be reviewed or adjusted as he works on these projects, especially for code generation.
- Increased efficiency: While he has found AI tools to need supervision, overall, he finds that AI helps increase efficiency. “It’s exciting because it can work so fast,” he says. “I think that’s the huge opportunity for all of us working in this space; it’s not like AI is going to take your job, AI is going to help you do your job so much better and going to give you the ability to actually execute some of your ideas.”
- A new way of thinking: Some advice Nick shares is that you must have the right mindset. “You need to have that curiosity, that growth mindset,” he emphasizes. With the rapid development of AI, curious minds have the opportunity to reimagine manual processes, automating them and optimizing with tools like Power Apps. It will take it from a manual process to an automated process and now to an AI process.
