As a developer consultant and integration specialist, I use and recommend both the products to every company that needs to do any integrations into Dynamics GP. For most normal business operations it handles your needs. If it doesn’t you should to find a Dynamics GP integrations specialist that knows all the backend and has access to source code.
As for SmartConnect, I have developed many integrations using this for customers. I even have one that does 150k – 200k per day with it. – Even connects to a MSMQ system!
SmartConnect is very rich in features, and can be designed with advanced programming in C# or VBA if you want to make a truly personalized business rules based process. You can even automate the integrations, if you so choose.
You will need to have some training or do a lot of practice, if doing them yourself. You will need to understand eConnect and its concepts. I suggest if you have many integrations, to take the course from eOne or if you need it for just a few specific integrations, then have your partner or an integration specialist develop them for you.
Let me know if you want more information…

I see Dynamics GP and Fabric working together for those GP customers with large transactional datasets.
I have started looking at a couple of my customers that will benefit with this technology.
When you attend Summit in October Belinda Allen and I are doing a 90 session on Fabric and external data points. We are actually going to use a real GP customer with 400 million transactional records to show you a real life comparison, in both SQL and in Fabric.
I will bore you with the backend data stuff, but Belinda will dazzle you with her PowerBI wizardry… if this was the 17th century she would be hung for such magic!

You need to dig into and see if the 18.4.1384 actually finished…
From C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP\Data go through the file duinstall.log, find the start of the last upgrade and then see if anything didn’t work or finish…
You could try running KB4576803 – is also 18.4.1384 but with Dec 22 date (Canadian Tax Table update) but still valid for all users or try KB4576805 from Jan 2022 and see if they pass…
Also look at all products in the DB_Upgrade table, not just 0, the error is not specifically just for product 0.I know for a systems verification and audit control this file is very important…
My upgrade steps include:
1. Before start of upgrade, Copy Current duinstall.log and archive with date
2. Delete the file duinstall.log – This allows for a clean file to examine after upgrade
3. Review duinstall.log after upgrade and verify no issues
4. Copy and Archive duinstall.log after verificationKerry Hataley
PS Thank You for using the NEW Portal!

What versions did you upgrade from?
There is very specific instructions as to HOW you need to complete the upgrade if you had the HRS installed… https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/s-e/gp/hot_topic_mdgpupgrade_415
So if this is the case and it was not completed correctly, you will need to do an uninstall.. See Terry’s BLOG…
