Fireside Chat on End-of-Support Lifecycle for Dynamics GP
Dynamics Communities and Community Summit NA CEO John Siefert welcomed Microsoft’s Mike Morton to the stage to discuss the end-of-support timeline for Dynamics GP in further detail, starting with a timeline overview:
- April 1, 2025 – No new sales of Perpetual GP licenses
- April 1, 2026 – No new sales of GP Subscription licenses
- September 30, 2029 – Final date for updates and product enhancements
- April 2031 – End of extended support
“Having clarity was one of the biggest things that people wanted. You know, there was a lot of ambiguity for Microsoft community, and just really trying to make sure that we had a great plan, and part of the idea here is to give people ample time to actually come up with what is the right strategy for that… By having these days, we hope [it’s] enough time for people to really come up with the right plan for their business,” noted Morton.
Morton also shared details on training and education opportunities and offers for both partners and customers as it relates to migrations and transitioning off Dynamics GP.
“We really want that feedback to make sure we make this experience as great as possible. So we didn’t come into this with all the answers, but we tried to get as much as we can,” expresses Morton on support for Dynamics GP users.
As the fireside chat came to an end, Morton shared his thoughts on the best migration plan for Dynamics GP customers – moving from Dynamics GP to Business Central, as opposed to another Microsoft ERP or product.
“Unless there’s some strong reason otherwise, default to BC. That’s definitely a recommendation, certainly. BC has grown quite a bit.”
