Protect, Detect, Respond: Security in the Microsoft Ecosystem

In this Community Summit North America 2022 moment, Corey Bakhtiary, Global Director of Programs and Product Development, Argano, discusses the importance of security in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Highlights

00:08 – There are three key principles that pervade both the Microsoft ecosystem and cloud or on-premise ecosystems:

  • Protect
  • Detect
  • Respond

00:28 – The notion of “protect” as it relates to security covers all preventative measures and controls. Specifically, these are the features that a company will leverage to harden its environment to prevent any security issues.

01:02 – Detect encompasses processes information and signals to inform a company about what is happening in its environment or ecosystem.

01:19 – Response is essentially more of a process-based control. Response is where remediation comes into play in order to reduce damage caused by a security incident or apply principles learned from mistakes.
