Using Prompts for AI Builder Document Processing

UG Expert Kylie Kiser reviews functionalities available using the relatively new AI Builder prompts. The prompts are available in Power Apps and Power Automate.

Agents & Copilots are defining the future of Dynamics, CRM, Power Platform, Azure, Fabric, and more. Register for Community Summit NA 2025, running October 19-23 in Orlando, FL, to explore and discover what this means to you.

Key Highlights

  • Build your own prompt: This feature is similar to using Copilot or ChatGPT. Users can write a prompt, then it provides an answer. This can be embedded into Power Automate or Power Apps and you can have your own pieces that are entered in there.
  • Testing a prompt: Kylie uses a registration form as an example to demonstrate building your own prompt and extracting data from it. Users can choose the format and use that to process it.
  • AI Builder sample: She uses a sample rental agreement that came from AI Builder and prompts it to extract the monthly rent to add to the document. She notes that the document has a lot of text and information that the system is processing.
  • Minimal steps: Different outcomes can be defined in the prompt, such as how it will return the data. So, instead of doing all the steps, the prompt builder can be used to extract the information you need without training a model.
