Release Wave 1 2025: Customer Insights Journeys, Unifying Sales and Marketing

UG Expert Heidi Neuhauser breaks down the customer insights journey part of Release Wave 1, specifically the six items in the release notes about unifying sales and marketing.

Key Takeaways:

  • Maximize event capacity with waitlist registration: Heidi notes that “this is a wonderful addition, probably long overdue.” When this becomes available, there will be an “enable waitlist” option with different journeys that determine what should happen on the waitlist. The default setting is “no” so users will have to toggle to “yes” to trigger based journeys. Users can send updates, for instance. The waitlist feature is set to preview in March with general availability in May.
  • Setting up and executing pre- and post-event communications: This allows users to continue the same journey after someone registers for an event. Users can also make their own steps in their journey or use Copilot to dictate what should happen. This is slotted for public preview in April with no set date for general availability.
  • Collect extra customer information without updating your data model: Heidi uses event registration as an example use case. Collecting temporary information that doesn’t need to be added to a contact record, like a meal preference at an event, can fall under the short text column type. This answer is stored as part of the form submission and doesn’t take up additional storage. Public preview is this month with general availability in May.
  • Create event portals with event and registration details using Power Pages: This combines two parts of the Power Platform: Power Pages and customer insights journeys. This will show a list of events. When an event is selected, it will show a list of speaker details, session details, and a registration form, for instance. According to the release notes, it’s really simple to configure. Public preview was slated for February but it’s still not here yet. General availability is supposed to be set for April.
  • Automate seamless handoff between marketing and sales: This introduces new abilities into your journeys. Within a journey, users will be able to add and assign tasks and phone calls to sales reps. Users can create an opportunity or a lead based on something that’s happened in the journey steps above. This is currently in preview with general availability in April.
  • Create an event portal using your own website: This will be useful for those without Power Pages but have their own CMS. It will integrate your own CMS system, either using a JavaScript code snippet or leveraging a new event API. Public preview was supposed to be last month but it’s still not available. General availability is set for April.
