Power Automate: Pros and Cons
In this Community Summit North America 2022 moment, excerpted from the Education sessions for the Power Platform user group, Cindy Lu, Project Manager, Dynamics 365 BC, Technology Management Concepts, discusses the pros and cons of Power Automate.
Highlights
00:19 – Native Business Central Workflows are easy to set up but are not very flexible to handle conditional situations.
00:53 – It is quite easy to set up Workflow but time-consuming. Workflow requires many levels of approval, which leads to the creation of multiple Workflows, so updating them or adding changes can become convoluted.
01:20 – Workflow is native to Business Central, so the audit trail is naturally there.
01:28 – Using Power Automate as Workflow gives users more flexibility in combining complex scenarios into one or two simple Workflows – the standard Workflow template can handle most scenarios but may require a few edits.
01:46 – Audit trails tend to be a concern for companies, but Workflow allows users to keep track of who approved what in the system.
