How to Create a New Browser Profile in Dynamics 365, Power Apps

In part 2 of her series on security in Dataverse, UG Expert Kylie Kiser explains how to set up a new browser profile.

Key Takeaways

  • Recap: This new series covers the basics of Dataverse security and how to test it, applicable to Dynamics 365, model-driven apps, and Power Apps. The first video demonstrated how to create a new user in Active Directory. In this video, Kylie will explain how to set up a browser profile for efficient user switching during testing.
  • Set up a new profile: After creating a new user, save the username and password, then set up a new work or school profile in Edge or Chrome. Log in to Power Apps with the new credentials, and be prepared to change the password as required by tenant settings.
  • Authenticate: After creating a strong password and saving it, you will be prompted to set up an authenticator app, which can be postponed for up to two weeks. If you plan to use the test account for a while, it’s recommended to complete this setup by scanning the QR code and adding the new account to your authenticator app.
  • Putting it all together: You can switch between your admin and test profiles to see what the test account has access to. Although the test account has a Customer Service license, Kylie notes that it doesn’t have access to the app or any environments yet. You can also customize the profile name and icon for easier identification.
