How Data Lakes Creates Usable and Accessible Data

In this Community Summit North America 2022 moment, excerpted from the Education sessions for the Dynamics 365 CRM user group, Peter Jennings, AX/D365 Practice Lead, insightsoftware, explains the benefits of the Azure Data Lakes environment.

Highlights

00:08 – Data entities – although they may be an investment – are starting to go away. CIOs should “think twice” about putting them in place.

00:46 – Microsoft is coming “full circle” and going back to using a centralized database, which is essentially a data warehouse instead of individual cubes.

01:06 – Data gathered in Data Lakes flows through the system and into Azure and is then placed into various data silos – the data appears in various places which does not liberalize reporting or help users with audit trails.

01:35 – Users want their data in a simple and accessible format which is what Data Lakes will allow users to do. Microsoft has automatic triggers that relocate the data into a usable environment.
