Hello!
I was wondering if I could look up some sort of audit trail? This issue being that we had an individual change a vendor EFT card. I am wondering if we could look up which user changed the card and when they changed it?
We are operating on GP 2013 and I have full administrative rights.
Thanks in advance!
Rebecca

Rebecca –
Look under Administration – Activity Tracking and see if you have these choices marked. If you do then you can print out the results.

Thanks Steve, this kind of works. When I run the report only two users show up on the report – even though I have all users selected and there are over 100 users.

Hi Rebecca,
Keep in mind that the Activity Report (audit) in GP will only show you records from the moment you enabled it. If there was none before, you won’t get any data on your reports.. It only starts to track the changes after it gets enabled.
Be aware also that this activity tracking is going to generate quite a bit of data and you have to go to purge that data from time to time, in ordre to not slow down your system or getting huge data content, especially when you enable lots of tracking for lots of users (as customers tend to enable ‘All’ for everyone).
This is done here :
Administration >> Utilities >> System >> Activity Detail
Select the data by date range (the easiest) and check the box ‘Remove Records’, then press REMOVE.. This will clean up the tracking for the selected data range.
I always leave between 6-12 months audit tracking in GP, in case some auditors are asking questions :-). The volume largely depends on how many companies and users you decide to track.
PS: GP’s tracking is very basic.. for more sophisticated auditing you’ll have to get some 3rd party products like Rockton or FastPath.

Hi Rebecca,
Beat had mentioned 3rd party products like Rockton and Fastpath… we use the Fastpath products here at SBA. Since we are a public company and are subject to SOX Compliance we use their Audit Trail product to track changes everywhere within GP, CRM and our home grown applications as well.
If you have any questions feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss in more detail.
Thanks,
