By exporting the system number sequences (Org Admin > Common > Num Seq > Num Seq) into excel or other format, they can be imported to another company/instance.Ā What that doesn’t get you is the setup of those sequences within the individual modules.Ā That is the parameter tables within a module, a separate export/import.Ā I have done this before and it helps, but it will be best done with a developer.

?Here are 3 possible candidates for number sequence entities. I am still learning ins/out of D365 so not sure which one will fit your needs.

?If on AX 2012 you can avoid the export/import process and simply run the number sequence wizard in the new legal entity. However, you would want to set up a basic naming convention for each of the sequences once you finalize the import because the generic numbering is not very useful. When I was modifying the number sequences for our companies,Ā my partner provided a naming convention file that, when set up,Ā helped to distinguish the different number sequences for better reporting. If you need something like that, let me know.

What version are you running?Ā If on D365, I’m not sure what that data entity looks like.Ā In general, you can import number sequences, but I have found that it’s actually not as efficient as setting up the core ones manually (you have to reference them in parameters anyway) and then running the wizard to fill in any gaps.Ā Also, if you have more than one entity, you may not want the exact same number sequences as it can get confusing in some cases.
