      Hello,

Does anyone know what data entity(s) I can export via BYOD that has inventory by location?Ā  I am currently exporting the Inventory on-hand by site entity, but I would like to get inventory by location if possible.

      Thanks in advance.
      Tim

I seems Microsoft only deems it necessary to export by Site or Warehouse. No sign of on-hand by location that I can find.

Check the Inventory On-hand Report Storage, added in Platform Update 35, I think. You define which data to include and when the summary process should run, ending up with a timestamped snapshot. The available fields include Location. The results are available via an entity, so you can sync to the BYOD.

Brent, that looks very useful. Needs enabling in Feature Management even if you are on pu35.

      Hi,

We are on pu365.Ā  Could you tell me how to enable?Ā  We are currently implementing so I am still learning.

      Thanks,
      Tim

You need to find the “Feature Management” workspace and enable from there. If you are implementing you should seriously consider turning on features relevant to you region as it is a lot harder once you are live to go through the necessary testing. However, I can appreciate that during an implementation you may have your hands full already. Good luck.

Thank you for your help!Ā  I enabled the feature and tried to export via data management to both excel and BYOD and it exported 0 lines.Ā  Is there something else that I have to do?

      Thanks,
      Tim

You’re actually scheduling a batch job when you set this up. Generally, you’ll want it to be recurring. Once the job runs, it will have rows available. One nice thing with this is you can sculpt different data sets of interest, and set them up to run. Each will be it’s own set of rows (you’ll see a report set name as one column).

If you are just getting started, you should take a look at the release notes for each PU as it comes along and consider the optional features, and whether they are of interest. I try to do a review and summarize items of interest for our business owner to review. There is a read-only permission for the feature management workspace, and we’ve given that to our business owner so they can see the list as well.

      Hi Brent,

I got the report to run in a recurring batch and now able to export the data entity populated.Ā  One last thing it seems that when the report runs it appends to the data entity???Ā  So after the report runs more than once, I get duplicate data in the data entity.Ā  I went and manually deleted the output reports and that removed the duplication, but is there a way to automatically just keep the latest snapshot only?

      Thanks,
      Tim

      Hi All,
I’m wondering if there’s any update – on how to keep the latest snapshot only? The data appends to the export each time this batch job runs. For us, it’s every 2 hours. We are running scripting in the SQL server tables to delete previous row entries and this helps avoids duplicates. However, the entity itself still increases and gets larger and larger each time the batch job runs. We have to manually clean-up these output reports by selecting and deleting each one separately to reduce the entity export size.

      Hi Tim,

We were experiencing the same thing and had to manually clean-up the snapshot reports.Ā  It because too time consuming so we stopped using.Ā  If there is a way to automate the cleanup of the snapshots, we would start using the data entity again.
