      #NAV2017?

We do not use manufacturing or warehousing but would like to add the pallet information into NAV in a place that one could see this information while inputting an order.Ā
We already use ALT UOM for lbs and cases.Ā  We have both these units of measure on the sales lines already.Ā Ā

Where would you add the pallet information TI/HI so that a salesperson could easily access this information (driven by item card) while entering a sales order or looking at an item card?Ā

      Thanks all!Ā

If you are using an “Alt UOM” you probably have an add-on, so this answer may or may not help.Ā  I have normally seen the dimensions of the pallet on the item Unit of Measure page.Ā  If you set up a UOM for pallet, you can add the Height, Length, and Width of the pallet to the UOM.Ā  If your add-on solution includes pallet functionality, there may be a table within the add-on to capture it.

      Good reply David.
So does this mean you can have a item like a role of film with maybe 1,800 inches (UOM #1 to a role (UOM #2) and a Pallet which might have eight (8) roles (UOM #3) to a pallet?Ā  They I suspect then you can consume by either Inches, roles or pallet, too?
      ???

I agree with Dave’s answer.Ā  Another option is to use Extended Text if you want the information to show up on an order line, but it will require extra steps.Ā  You can enter the pallet information as Item Extended Text on the Item Card.Ā  Then when entering sales orders, use the Line menu drop-down, select Functions and Insert Ext. Text.

Yes, you can have all those UOM in the table.Ā  But, they would all relate to the Base UOM.Ā  So, if INCH was the base UOM, you would set up ROLL as 1800 INCH and also PALLET as 14400 INCH (assuming 8 rolls to a pallet).Ā  The system will then allow you to transaction in any of the three units of measure.Ā  Under this scenario, some might be tempted to use ROLL as the base UOM and then set up INCH as 1/1800 of a ROLL.Ā  I would recommend against that as its usually best to have the lowest level as the base.

      Hi Ruth,

What we have done is to set up new fields on the item table, then use a factbox to look at this data in the sales order.

As this is also on the item card, we don’t have to be entering a sales order to view the info.Ā  We don’t however use ALT UOM’s so I can’t tell you how this would handle them.

      Many thanks.

I’ve always worked in a multi location environment andĀ add TI HI to the SKU table/card. Often times there is a need to have different pallet sizes in different locations.?
