      Hello Everyone,

I just downloaded and installed the Cronus Demo Database of #D365BusinessCentral On-Premise on a spare laptop.Ā  The web client has been installed, but I am hoping to install/set up the Windows Client.

Is there any trick to doing that?Ā  Below is an image of my selection that enable the web client.

      BC Install

My next question:Ā  Is it safe to install the BC Demo Database on my work laptop where I already have a production copy of NAV2013R2 running and a NAV2018 Cronus database running.Ā  It appears that this will not be an issue, but I would like some assurance since I have some test data that I do not wish to lose or corrupt in my NAV2018 playground.

      Hello Lewis,

I have the BC client installed, I first selected the option to install a demo which only gives you the web client and then re-ran the install and added the windows client.Ā  I had no issues with doing this.

I’m also running 3 versions on my laptop.Ā  I have 2016, 2017 & BC.Ā  So far I have not had any issues apart from conflicting port numbers which I’m sure you know how to resolve.

      Kind regards

      Nick

As what Nick mentioned, I’ve installed BC with NAV 2015 (production database) on my laptop, and have not had any issues.

Ā  I did the same thing, but no Windows Client.Ā  I was able to download it from the Microsoft Store, however.

      ?? – Thanks.Ā  I will give it a try sometime soon.

It may be there but not labeled as Business Central.Ā  When I installed on my laptop, the web client was shown as Business Central, but the Windows client still showed as Dynamics NAV.

Thanks .Ā  The client was there as you pointed out and when you load it, it reads “Microsoft Dynamics NAV Connected to Dynamics 365 Business Central.”

      NAV-BC Client
The client looks more like NAV2018 than the BC Web (Modern) Client.

      BC Windows Client

There is also a downloadable client/app from the Microsoft Store, which is the second option(below) when you first run the BC setup.exe file.Ā  This app looks and works like the Web/Modern Client.

      MS Store

So I do have two issues after installing Business Central with the Cronus Demo database.

      (1) My NAV2013R2 desktop shortcuts no longer work.Ā  Ā They are trying to use the new BC Windows Client with the NAV2013R2 database and the results in a version mismatch error.Ā  Those desktops were using the command:Ā Ā dynamicsnav://NAVSERVER.mydomain.net:7060/NAV-INSTANCE/MyCompany/

I had to change my desktop shortcut command toĀ “C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft Dynamics NAV71RoleTailored ClientMicrosoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.exe” “dynamicsnav://NAVSERVER:7060/NAV-INSTANCE/MyCompany/”

      (2) I cannot get the Web Service to install on my laptop.Ā  This worked on other laptops that I tried, but my laptop already has NAV2013R2 and NAV2018 clients installed.Ā  I’m not sure if that is the issue.Ā  I DID have to install BC using different port numbers than the default port numbers because my NAV2018 install was already using the default port numbers 7045, 7046, 7047, etc.)

      Web Server Components

      Fatal error during installation.
