Avalara – Sales Return Orders

    Hello,

We just started using Avalara & have an issue with Sales Return Orders.

The ship-to location is our warehouse in CO, so Avalara is calculating the sales tax based on CO rather than the location where the customer is located. This is correct considering that it is the ship-to location that determines the sales tax amount.

The issue is that we need the sales tax to be calculated on the customer’s location since the original transaction was in their state and the return transaction should offset.

Does anyone know if it is possible to have the system default to the customer’s location?

    Thanks,

    Karen

    Hi Karen,

Have you checked your Avalara AvaTax Configuration? There is a setting for “Return Address”. Here is a link to our Knowledge Center with the information below as well as other configuration settings: https://knowledge.avalara.com/bundle/fwc1661758915821_fwc1661758915821/page/qfl1669141494946.html
