Managing Projects with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
With Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, your business can efficiently oversee various projects, ensuring that tasks and billing are meticulously tracked. As projects or jobs progress, expenses from materials, resources, and tasks can accumulate. To manage these costs effectively, you can leverage Business Central’s Invoice feature to maintain accurate and up-to-date billing. This blog will explore the different types of invoices for these jobs and guide you through the process of creating them in Business Central.
Creating Multiple Project Sales Invoices
To generate an invoice for a project task that has been completed, simply search for “Project Create Sales Invoice” and select the corresponding link. Fill in the necessary fields and use the filter option to specify the projects for the batch job. After clicking “OK,” you can review the invoice in the “Sales Invoices” window. Alternatively, you can choose the specific project and select “Create Sales Invoice.”
Creating and Posting Project Sales Invoices from Project Planning Lines
Invoices can also be created directly from project planning lines, allowing you to customize the quantity of an item or resource to be invoiced. To do this, open your project, select “Posting” for your “Project Task Type,” and choose “Project Planning Lines.” Here, you can adjust the quantity by modifying the “Qty. to Transfer to Invoice” field.
Invoicing a Third-Party
If you need to invoice a third-party that is not the end customer, navigate to the “Projects” page. Designate the recipient of the project in the “Sell-to” fields and the third-party to be billed in the “Bill-to” fields.
