      Hello Everyone,Ā
Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Anyone have experience automating the process to refresh the dataset after the dataflow refresh is completed.Ā  Ā Does Power BI offers an option to doing so?Ā  Ā
Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Currently we have both scheduled at specific times of the day, but we would like to trigger the refresh as soon as dataflow refresh is done.Ā

      Hey Jonathan,

I’d be curious as well for any solution someone has. A workaround I used was to use Power Automate. We had a dataflow refresh that took anywhere from 25-35 minutes starting at 7am. Because of that unusual time, we couldn’t assume that it would be done by 730am. So we scheduled the dataset refresh for the 7:40amĀ using a Power Automate flow.

Yes we do the same with scheduled refreshes in the service, but we would like to understand if there is kind of an event trigger available we can use. ?

I hope this question will be obsolete once direct query connections to dataflows will be available.

      Hi Jonathan,
As Ā said you can use power flows.Ā This is a workaround including power flows and API. Trigger first the desired dataflow using the API. The response will give you a 200 but i don’t think this means that refresh was completed. so you enable the option MailOnCompletion

      MailOnCompletion
      • string

Mail notification will be sent on refresh completion, including either failure and success

This option will generate an email and you should be able to create a flow which reads that email and trigger the dataset refresh(This option is available on Flow)

Ingenious solution ?. Another reason for me to revisit the Power BI API.
