      ?HI,

Can anyone tell me aĀ  way to stop the tiles refreshing in a published app every time it is opened?Ā  I have quite a few reports and it takes more time than acceptable to refresh. Even better, is there a way just to have a list of reports instead of the tiles?Ā  The reports are all tabular so don’t really need a visual representation in the menu.

      Thanks and regards

      Gerry

Can you please beĀ  a bit more specific.Ā  There are no tiles in apps. Apps have reports and dashboards. Reports have pages(sheets) and these pages contain visuals. Dashboards have tiles (either pinned visuals or pinned sheets).

which one of these is slow?

      Hi Lutz,

Still finding my way around I’m afraid.

I have created reports , which I then put (pinned?) on a dashboard, and which are displayed as tiles.  I then used the dashboard to create and publish an app.  When I  go to the app via the URL the tiles refresh, and the user has to wait until all of the tiles have refreshed to access the reports.

      Regards

      Gerry

Yeah, still no. šŸ™‚Ā  You cannot pin reports to dashboards. You can pin visuals or report pages to dashboards.
You don’t “use the dashboard to create an app” – the app is created including whichever reports and dashboards you choose to include (there are toggle switches for each report and dashboard that allow you to control that).
I think you refer to the spinners on the individual visuals as causing the slowdown.Ā  Most of the time that is caused by inefficient measure calculations. You can use DAX Studio to investigate and improve the query performance.

      Hi,

How many tiles have you got there on your dashboard?

      Hi Hubert,

12 tiles, but I have realised that I can publish an app without a dashboard so it’s not an issue now.Ā  However, the app does go to the first report on access and I am trying to figure out a way for it to show a title page or something. Getting there. Baby steps

      Regards

      Gerry

      Hi Gerry,

You can create a new dashboard for your landing page. Once you have it pin only text labels from your report and they should create a link between your new dashboard and each individual report.

      Hi Hubert,

Sorry to be thick but I can only find the option to pin the visual.Ā  Can you tell me how to pin the text label?

      Thanks and Regards

      Gerry

      Hi Gerry,

      1. Create a measure with a “constant” text as your label content.
      2. Put a Card visual on your report and use that measure to display that text.
      3. Format that Card visual to look like a simple label.
      3. Your “label” is ready to be pinned.

      Regards,

      Hi Gerry,

I’ve actually found a simpler way:
      1. Go to your dashboard.
      2. Insert a text box tile
      3. Enter your report title (or whatever you want) as your text.
      4. Click “Set custom link” checkbox
      5. Select “Link to a dashboard or report in the current workspace”
      6. Select your report
      7. Hit Apply and you’re ready to update your app

      Regards,
      .
