?What is the expected behavior On-Open? Should the user see their last filter and/or slicer selections? Any users last selection?
      Thank you

The least satisfying answer ever: it depends.Ā

You can turn persistent slicers on or off, and control drill through behavior for each file via Options and Settings. Slicers can also be synced which affects behavior if combined with persistence.
RLS may be in play as well.

Hey there Audrey! I worked in Coos Bay for a while! Also, in Renton, Washington. I’m in Michigan now.

Thanks for your thoughts. I believe you’re referring to the persistent filters under Options (see my comment to Hasham below).Ā

When you’re referring to “synch”, I believe you mean that slicers can be synched acrossed pages, and how one is setup may affect another on a different page? If so, the initial, controlling slicer would still have to have a setting OnOpen, and I’m wondering where that “default” would come from.Ā

Also, I don’t know RLS… could you elaborate?

Also (I don’t think this makes a difference) I’m serving up the pages embedding them into a Sharepoint page. I *believe* the functionality still depends on the PowerBi service though.

      Thanks
      Lex

      Hi Alexis !

      I think this is your decision to make a choice, you have 3 options which you can set;

      1) All user’s can see default slicer value
      2) User’s can see their last slicer selection
      3) User’s can see last slicer selection made irrespective of their own last selection

Mostly 1 & 2 are the option you might need to pick from, you can discuss with business what they want.

      Regards,

HashamĀ ,Ā I *think* you’re referring to persistent filters as described here, but don’t understand how this would provide 3 options as you describe. I believe the Service would either show the Developers Default selections, or show the time-based last users selection …that is, if I changed the selections, it would show those selections, but then if you went into the Service and changed the selections, then those would be displayed. This would be different than the Service saving each individual User’s selection. It is not clear to me which is implemented. Given the Option for persistent filters is a boolean, there could only be two options, not 3 as you show.

Also (I don’t think this makes a difference) I’m serving up the pages embedding them into a Sharepoint page. I *believe* the functionality still depends on the PowerBi service though.

      Thank you for your thoughts
      Lex
