      Ā

I have a report and a dataset which I had published in a workspace while giving the workspace access to the user’s as a MEMBER, the user is able to view the RLS but also they get the share access for the report which I don’t wish to provide. And if I give the user workspace access as a VIEWER or CONTRIBUTOR then though the user doesn’t have the share access but also thy are not able to use RLS.
Is there a way for providing the access to RLS but not the access to share the report.

      Hi !

Please use [Publish App] feature, rather than providing access to your [App Workspace], [Workspace] are for development purpose & you can publish you App & assign permission to end-users there.

RLS can be set in [Datasets] settings

      Hi,Ā
In this case the user’s are the developers. I basically want them to test the rls but at the same time should not be able to share the report or the dataset.I tried to publish the app and not give the share access but the share access exist for the report and dataset. I am not sure if this is how it is or it is a gliche.

      HI !

You have the option to check RLS yourself with developers / QA emails, either through PBI Desktop or PBI Service using RLS [View As Role] option.

The requirement only make sense when you are afraid that the people who are testing RLS might share the PBI Desktop / Report outside your organization.

Untick the highlighted column when you share.

This works only for the report, but also i want the user to be able to use the dataset and try working on the rls. The users are the developers whom i want to test the rls but should not be able to share the report of dataset.

Create a blank report and share the report instead of dataset. Let the developers edit the report and create the way they want.
re the report with the developers
