Is there a way to push reports to an email distribution group in Power BI?Ā Ā
I know that an individual can subscribe to a report, this is not the question – need to be able to distribute via email to executive distribution group.Ā

      Corinna,Ā

      Like SSRS Subscriptions?
I don’t know of any way to do this right now.Ā
Power BI is all about the self-service, so alerts and subscriptions are all set up for that.Ā

Does the exec group have Pro licenses? That is an important consideration…

      But here are some options:
You might be able to use a Powershell script (assuming a Windows environment) to send the report URL via email to a group.Ā
That can be automated via Windows Task.Ā
This can also be done with the PBIX file itself, if the client has Desktop, although the file size might exceed email limits.Ā

Or someone can subscribe to the report and then create an email rule to forward it to the Exec group when received.Ā

      Long term:
The Power BI Report Server may be able to address that issue, but it requires either enterprise or Power BI Premium.Ā
Currently, they haven’t implemented subscriptions for Power BI in the report server, but since it packaged with SSRS, I suspect it will be added in the future.Ā

      Hope that helps,Ā
      Audrey

Thank you so much for your feedback.Ā  I have never used PowerShell but will definitely look into it.Ā Ā

      Sincerely,Ā

      HiĀ Corinna,

Are these users external to your organization? If internal, pushing Power BI apps to users is coming soon. But I’m assuming you’d want reports pushed to users when the data has updated?

      cheers
      Ben

      Hi Ben,Ā

Users are internal to organization.Ā  Could however in future be external I suppose if needed.Ā  Definitely something the other BI tools have a one up on Power BI.Ā  Need for the reports to push following schedule refresh.Ā  Do you know when Microsoft may be including this in an upgrade?Ā

      Thanks,Ā

      Corinna

Agreed on this point.Ā  I’m loving PBI so far, but this lack of intuitive sharing among internal staff & leaders without being beholden to the upper tiers of upgrades (read: $$$$) is a barrier to wider adoption.Ā  The cost for Pro is doable for creating content and reports (but not for just the privilege of LOOKING AT reports).Ā  The cost for Premium is unbearably high.
