Is it possible to create a data set with either PBI dataset or from within paginated report builder that can be at the database level and shared? I just got paginated report builder installed, and was kicking the tires while I wait for my company to upgrade to premium capacity. From within paginated report builder, it looks like I have to embed the connection string for each report or link to a PBI dataset.
Basically i’m trying to replicate what SSRS offers with me being able to configure the dataset, put it in a folder and share it/use it for all reports.

If I am understanding you correctly, yes, this can be done. Performance might be an issue, depending on your environment.
But you can use a Power BI model as a data source for other Power BI reports.

Thanks . The only problem there is I have to select all the objects individually (I think). If I build the connection string in paginated report builder, I only have to connect to the database, I can then build the report and use anything on that server. In power bi I have to select each object I want to bring in, or write a sql statement. I was hoping there would be a way to just share a connection to the database for use in paginated.
