Hi Power BI user group,Long time listener, first time caller. I hope this finds you well.
I am trying to figure out how to export a table from Power BI into Excel (or another shareable format) with formatting included. As of now when I export to excel it gives me the info, but its squished all together and not formatted correctly. Is there a way to export to a template that has the formatting set?
My sales team is using Power BI to propagate sales price sheets for our customers, and they need to make them presentable easily.
thanks for your help and all the best,

Hi! Thanks for the response. The comfort level with that kind of thing is very low in my line of work. Both the sales team and the customers are still more comfortable with a exportable document that can turn into an email attachment. However, that is in the future state.
Best and thanks again.

Well, if they can access one dashboard they can access another. And they can send URLs to each other rather documents. In the meantime, have you thought of exporting as a PDF, which will be nicely documented ?

James is right you’re best option is to create a report that is formatted and exported as a PDF. There is a new option that’s in preview right now to allow exporting formatted data directly to excel:
https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/exportable-formatted-data-tables-preview/It’s preview so no guarantees on it’s stability/consistency.

Hi Alex –
One thing to keep in mind, which hopefully has been addressed by now. My experience with exporting to .pdf is that it is really a screenshot. I have visualizations that don’t fit on the page, and when I export them to .pdf, I only get the portion that is displayed. I’m now exporting to Excel from each visualization and creating pivot tables. So the news that Microsoft is finally creating (I hope) a proper export is great! I’ll check it out. Thanks Sam!
