Today, I’m happy to announce that Esri is taking ArcGIS Maps for Power BI to the next level by introducing Plus, a subscription service available for purchase from Esri that allows everyday business users in Power BI to do more with their spatial data.

      What is Plus?

In a word: More. More basemaps, more data points, more demographics, more reference layers. It’s a step in our journey to make GIS easy to understand and consume for regular business users. Plus is inspired by many of the feature requests you have made since we introduce ArcGIS Maps for Power BI.

?This is a fantastic enhancement.Ā  Very useful.Ā  My stakeholders are excited.Ā  I’m excited. Intuitive to use, since we all have been using maps (Googlemaps / Bingmaps / Apple maps, etc.) for years.

Now the complaint or rather the question in anticipation of an easy answer:Ā  Once we choose an area to explore – the US state of Ohio for example, and we have a reference layerĀ on (income demographics), once we start to dril down and explore smaller areas of Ohio, Esri snaps back to full Ohio.Ā  Is there any way to freeze the map at the drilled-to level displayed and allow the user to digest the geographical layer of granularity they have exposed.

This has been anounced and active for (~ 2 days?). I’m sure this is either user ignorance (me) or a fix coming soon.Ā  I amĀ also aware that this is an Esri enhancement, a Microsoft partner – not Microsoft itself.Ā  So maybe the Power BI PUG may not be the place for this discussion.Ā  But I thought that I would post here firstĀ anyway.
