?Hi,
I think i’m going a bit mad..
I’ve just set up a new data source (excel spreadsheet on one of our site’s local file and print servers) but i’m missing the bit in Data source settings where I can edit the credentials for connecting to the datasource.
When I click on Edit Permissions all I have is the Privacy Level option to change and nothing else.  I know it’s there because I set it on a previous report – what am I doing wrong?? 🙁

Hi Rebecca

I think you’ll only see the extra credential settings once you publish the report to the Power BI service and you need to refresh the report (either manually or on a schedule). In Power BI desktop, to connect to the data source, you would have to have been given access to the file location so it doesn’t really care after that until you publish.

Hi Rob,
Yes that helps massively.. I had narrowed it down to being related to the gateway but thought it might be because my gateway is set a couple of folders up the hierarchy so probably needs amending or a new gateway creating.
