      ?Hello,

We are trying to use Power BI Tiles in our CRM Dashboards but the issue we are facing is that it is a hit or miss situation for the Dashboard content to load successfully.

Using Data from Excel Spreadsheets we created our reportĀ using Power BI Desktop.
We then published to Power BI Services.
Created Reports and Dashboards and also shared these with each of the users within Power BI.

In CRM we created a Dashboard with Power BI Tiles.
We then shared the report with Users (Yes they do have Pro Licenses)

When they go to the Dashboard, they will need to refresh several times to have it loaded or they will get a message asking them to login to Power BI, or they will get a message saying the content is not available.

Refreshing multiple times (10-15) will finally render the Dashboard. We are trying to roll this out to a larger group but this is already a frustrating situation for the few users testing the Dashboards.

Is there something we are not doing correctly? Has anyone experienced such issue?

      Please Help.

Any Help with this will be highly appreciated.

      Thanks,

      Hi Michael,Ā

      What CRM are you using?

We have successfully embedded Power BI reports or dashboards into Dynamics 365, without the need for using Power BI Tiles (I thought this was just for embedding to Office docs like PowerPoint?)

      Regards,Ā

      Matt

      ?Hello Matt,

thank you for your response . That’s correct I was under the impression that this should work for us without any need of purchasing power BI licenses.
We are currently on Dynamics 365 Online version 8.2.

Is this limitation based on the version of Dynamics CRM we have?

The other issue I am facing is that, the CRM Dashboards (with Power BI tiles embedded) will open in a hit or miss scenario. I am not sure there’s anything different I am doing.

Go to CRM–>Select Create New Dashboard –> then click on the Power Bi Icon to Add a power BI tile –> save the Dashboard –> share with others –> The result:
      Sometimes the content is displayed
Sometimes we get a message saying no content available –>refreshing multiple times displays the content
Sometimes we get message requesting to login to power BI

      Thanks,

      Hi Mike,Ā

That version should be fine, it’s the same as we are using – I believe anything before that might be a problem.

We are also following the same process to include the dashboards built on info from Excel and / or Dynamics but I can’t say that we’ve had any of the intermittent problems you are experiencing, having to refresh a load of times!

If the users are asked to login in may be that their browser instance is already logged in with another account, as sometimes happens, but it sounds unusual if it sometimes asks and sometimes doesn’t.Ā

The only thing I could really suggest would be to confirm that the same user account is used to created the PBI report and upload to the service than is used to login to Dynamics, but this probably isn’t the problem if they can sometimes access the dashboards. Presumably there’s no issue if the user logs in to the PBI service, they can see the dashboards every time with no problem?

Sorry I can’t be of more use to you!

      Regards,Ā

      Matt
