      Hi,
      I need to connect a OLAP cube. The team owner of data shared with me an Odc file to connect. This file is easily usable by Excel but I was not able to use it from Power BI. According to what I read on web this king of connection is not possible but I was asking if someone was able to find a workaround, maybe using the connection string used in the file. I tried to connect using an OLEDB connection and passing the connection string below but I received the error: “it is not possible to connect with the credential passed” like my credentials were not enabled but I correctly access it via Excel.

      My Odc file is something like this

      <html xmlns:o=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”
      xmlns=”http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40“>

      <head>
      <meta http-equiv=Content-Type content=”text/x-ms-odc; charset=utf-8″>
      <meta name=ProgId content=ODC.Cube>
      <meta name=SourceType content=OLEDB>
      <meta name=Catalog content=CatalogName>
      <meta name=Table content=TableName>
      <title>Title</title>
      <xml id=docprops><o:DocumentProperties
        xmlns:o=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”
        xmlns=”http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40“>
        <o:Name>eName</o:Name>
       </o:DocumentProperties>
      </xml><xml id=msodc><odc:OfficeDataConnection
        xmlns:odc=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:odc”
        xmlns=”http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40“>
        <odc:Connection odc:Type=”OLEDB”>
         <odc:ConnectionString>Provider=MSOLAP.7;Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=True;Data Source=http://myserver.com/xmla;Initial Catalog=OLAPCube</odc:ConnectionString>
         <odc:CommandType>Cube</odc:CommandType>
         <odc:CommandText>CubeName</odc:CommandText>
        </odc:Connection>
       </odc:OfficeDataConnection>
      </xml>
      <style/>
      </head>
      <body/>

      </html>

      Thanks in advance for support!

      In recent post from PBI Product Manager (Arun Ulag), they are going to implement XMLA protocol for PBI. Hopefully that can get you connected directly with the ODC code.

      For now did you try connecting directly using SSAS connection ?
