      Hi,
I’ve noticed that there’s a difference in the displayed data when switching from Card and Multi-row card.
Example – I put a card in with total Changes for one week (337) however this doesn’t match my matrix which shows changes by status, so I copy and paste the Matrix and remove status and the total is 352.Ā  I change this visual to a multi-card and it’s correct (no filtering on the visual or report at this point except a date range)
I change back to a card and it’s wrong again (337)
Anyone know what I’m doing wrong (I don’t understand why the data is changing when switching between these 2 visuals) or is this a bug?

All bar one of my cards are wrong when using card rather than multi-row card.

      Hi Rebecca,
A bug is not probable, these visuals have been with us for years. It may be a combination of the measure you use and a hidden filter somewhere (Sometimes I’ve spend hours looking desperately at a report not doing what I expected; it happens). Can you share more details?

      Hi Michiel,
Yes i’ve found that out the hard way having to re-write a 30 page report because I didn’t realise you can unhide hidden and synched filters.Ā  Wont be doing that again lol
Even with hidden filters the data shouldn’t really change if you’re just changing from one visual to another?
Anyhow I think I figured it out – the underlying data looks like it has refreshed so when I changed the visual the figures seem to have changed to the new data, but when i change it back to the old visual it seems to have cached the pre-refreshed data?Ā  Is this normal? (I was about to start moaning to our BI support)

      Hi Rebecca,

If you are referring with PBI Service, cache will be around 10-15 mins. for PBI Desktop you can always go ahead & do manual refresh.

To refer to you statement if someone hide the filter visual or apply slicer to selected visual it would still be applied if you just change the visual appearance.

But it won’t effect any new visual copy / paste.

      Hi Hasham,
I’m just using Power BI Desktop to create a report, but it’s strange that it refreshes the data on the visual I’m working on but not on the rest of my visuals until I manually refresh which keeps making me think I have data issues.Ā Ā
Will bear that in mind before I start panicking šŸ™‚

If i remember correct there is a setting in Power BI.

Go to Options & Settings -> Options -> Current File -> Data Load -> Background Data -> [Allow data preview to download in the background]
Go to Options & Settings -> Options -> Current File -> Query Reduction -> Show an Apply Button

      Regards,

      Hi Hasham,
I tried butĀ I don’t have the first option as the file uses a live connection to another model but i’ve added the apply query reduction, will see if that makes any difference.

      Thanks šŸ™‚

Probably you might need to modify the setting on referenced Model file.

Second option is to just reduce the number of queries sent back & forth to the DS.

Uncheck the first setting (Background Data) & checking the second option (Query Reduction) will boost up performance.
