      Hey All.

I am working on a new Power App that will use a hybrid approach of data sources. It will use the CDS + SharePoint. The records inside of the entity within the CDS will need a key that associates the record with a matching list item in SharePoint.

Here is the challenge. This SharePoint list is going to have imported records from another SharePoint list as the list being exported is an on-prem version of SharePoint, going to SharePoint Online. A testing list has already been created in SPO and it was created with a column of ‘ID1’ which appears to be storing the ‘ID’ values of the list items that were exported.

In this new Power App, users are going to be starting the process by creating new records within the Power App, then a Flow will be initiated to create a matching record in the SPO list. The reason why two underlying data sources are being used is because the CDS will have a certain type of data and SPO will have a different type of data that belongs in SharePoint.

I am afraid that if I create an ID field in the Power App and associate that to the ‘ID1’ field in SharePoint, eventually it will run into a conflict when the Power App tries to assign a value that exists already in ‘ID1’ on the SPO side.

Hopefully this makes sense. I’d like to know if there is a better way to approach this and/or avoid this potential conflict I am thinking of.

      Thank you!

      Hi Michael,
I need to clarify your statementĀ and associate that to the ‘ID1’ field in SharePoint.
As you have noted, SharePoint will auto-create its own ID as the records are createdĀ  – ID1 in this instance as you must have created it with a field called ID already (I have one like that exported from Excel). You cannot “create a field” in Power Apps as it has not data of its own. When the data from the other SharePoint list is imported, it will simply add more incremental numbers to ID1.When you create a new record in PowerApps, the process will be the same.
With this in mind, do you still have a concern?
