I am trying to create subscriptions for a report that has a sub/report and I am getting the following error message:
“Subscriptions can’t be created or edited because the credentials used to run the report are not stored, or if a linked report, the link is no longer valid”  the credential for both reports are saved using a custom data source and the database credentials are keyed in.  The report runs by clicking on the report in reporting services.  thanks

      Hi Drew,

I have often found that I must launch the browser window by right clicking on it and choosing Run as Administrator to be able to set up or change subscriptions.

If what Victoria said doesn’t work, go to the report settings in your browser and check what credentials it is running under.  Most of the time (and this is situational dependent), I have it run as a specific user with the right DB access instead of using user credentials, and it sounds like it’s something along that line.  It cannot use the credentials when running as a subscription (If it’s a subscription, and it is looking for user supplied credentials, then what is it using, if any???)

We use SSRS and there are two ways to set up authentication on your reports.  One is with user access – where the individual users have to have access to run the report (and at least select privileges to the SQL underneath it).  This is commonly used so as to manage access to reports via Active Directory.

The other is to build the report using some kind of reporting user who has all the privileges.  The only way to run scheduled reports and subscriptions is the latter model since it is the scheduling engine and not a user who is running the report.
