Is the value entered into Standard Cost (IV00101/STNDCOST) static.  Is it ever modified or updated by GP in any matter either by transactions or Stored Procedures?

It could be, yes, and this is a very sensitive topic because a lot of it depends on your business model and how you run things in GP.

For the most part it is static and you are in control of it – the year end routine can automatically update standard cost for you (from Current) – and then again, there are things in MFG that might update standard as well.

Are you having any particular challenge in conjunction with Standard cost that prompts the question?

I have only seen this field used with GP’s manufacturing module.  The field tracks the standard cost for inventory items when companies use standard costing for their finished goods or components.
