We’re experiencing glacially slow performance with SSRS reports when compare to the same standard report in GP. For example running a GL summary trial balance report for a month for all accounts using the regular old GP version takes about 5 minutes to complete.Ā  Running the SSRS version for the same parameters takes almost 30 minutes to complete.

We’ve got SSRS running on a separate sql 2014 sp2 server.Ā  Our GP environment is 2015 R2.Ā  Our sql db server is also 2014 sp2.

Any suggestions for where to start troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated.

Even 5 minutes for a summary trial balance seems like an eternity. Generating a TB for all of 2017 takes about 7 seconds for us with about $1.2 billion in activity. I would be willing to bet your SQL environment is undersized. SSRS can be a bit of a memory hog and if your environment is being hammered just to keep SQL performing, there is little left over for SSRS. I would recommend looking at any of the articles about optimizing SQL performance for GP:Ā https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/northamerica/GP/learning/documentation/white-papers/MDGP2010_WhitePaper_Performance
