We are trying to update our systems. We are currently runningĀ Win 7 OS and GP 8.0 we are trying to upgrade all our computers to Win 10 OS but still be able to use our version of GP 8.0. We have completed the installation and GP is working. I am able to access our custom reports and all of our company information. The one thing I am unable to do is print to a printer, but this is the important part, I can print to screen. There pops up an error that the reports.dic files are missing or misplaced. When I go to re-create the reports.dic file as per these instructions:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/850465/how-to-re-create-the-reports-dic-file-in-microsoft-dynamics-gp
I get to the second part of step 1 and there are zero “forms” or Reports” that are displayed to choose from. Now I know that there are custom reports made within GP so there should be something coming up in this list. However, I don’t see anything. So I am finding it difficult to move on from this point.I would be grateful for any information about how I could adjust this. GP works on Windows 10 and with our system but I need to find a way to print the order information through our system.
Thank you in advance,

Hi ,
Small world!Ā I actually grew up in Waldron just down the road from you!
Full disclosure – I’m not sure if Windows 10 is compatible with GP 8.0 given the age of that version.Ā Have you confirmed that with Microsoft or your partner?
Let’s confirm a few things first.
1.) Are you saying you can NOT print to a printer but you CAN print to screen?Ā If so, have you tried printing to screen and then choosing to print to the printer?Ā Have you confirmed that the printers are available to other applications (i.e. word)Ā in the Win 10 OS? Or are you unable to render the reports to the screen as well?
2.) Do you have 2 separate instances of GP happening here (i.e. one on the “old” Win 7 and one on the “new” Win 10 OS)?
3.) When you are logged into GP, can you navigate to Microsoft Dynamics GP>>Tools>>Setup>>System>>Edit Launch file.Ā Ā A pop up window should appear.Ā If you click on the product name Microsoft Dynamics GP, it should tell you where the system is looking for the forms and reports dictionaries at based on how your SET file is configured.Ā If so, can you confirm that the dictionary files actually live (and are accessible to users) in the file path shown in that screenshot?
Thanks,
Samantha

Hi
But, what Bruce said is accurate, GP v. 8 is way, way, way out of support… maybe you meant WIndows 8?Ā
I‘d like to add that many times printer and print-to-screen issues are NOT about GP but about the right drivers on the computer you are printing from.
Work with IT and make sure all your print drivers are accurate and that you’ve chosen the right printers for GP defaults.?
If you are on GP 8, you really need to discuss with your partner upgrading you to a newer version.Ā I’m not even certain GP 8 would work on Win 10 machines.
