Hello all,
Currently we are experiencing an issue with material that is received in our QA site for quality inspection.  The issue is that MRP does not run in the QA site, it runs in the main site. Once the PO is received into the QA site the on-order quantity decreases but the Inventory is not visible to in our MRP system, so when MRP recalculates it shows demand for parts that are currently being inspected in our QA site.  

I appreciate the time in advance for sharing your possible solutions to what I am sure is a problem for those using receive to QA, Advanced Manufacturing and MRP.

Unfortunately GP MRP is site specific and does not combine Sites for planning purposes unlike GP PO Generation which uses Master and Child Sites.  That said a GP company: Dorado Solutions has an enhancement to GP MRP that allows you to consolidate multiple sites to a single site for MRP planning purposes.  It has been around for years.
It is also possible to do something close using Multi Bins where instead of a Site called MAIN and a Site called QA you would have two Bins in the MAIN site, one called QA and one called MAIN. For Receiving you would Receive to MAIN-QA and then after QA at putaway, you would transfer to MAIN-MAIN  Both Bins (MAIN and QA)  would be included in MRP for Site = MAIN.
I believe Wally Dodds at Dorado knows Ben at your company and may have spoken to him just this week not necessarily about these strategies but I will copy him just in case.
I think you have a couple choices.

Hi Thaddeus and thanks for your suggestion.  I think we could make some modifications and make the GP MRP enhancement possibly work.  The second option is not an option for us because we have advanced manufacturing and having the items received to one site makes them avail to pick for MRP so that was a hard no.  I’ll have Ben reach out to Wally and talk to him about that enhancement.   Thanks so much for your feedback!
