??What is the rate variance field on the multicurrency exchange rate table screen used for? And what would be an appropriate value in this field? We have two exchange rate tables that we are using; Canadian dollars to US dollars and US dollars to Canadian dollars. We currently don’t have a value in these fields and are trying to set up Envisage Solutions Exchange Rate importer and it requires a value in this field. Any help would be appreciated.

According to Dynamics it means: ”

      Rate Variance

Enter the exchange rate variance that will be allowed when modifying existing rates or adding new ones using the Multicurrency Exchange Rate Maintenance window. The rate variance that you enter here also will be used if you choose to override an exchange rate during transaction entry. See How rate variances affect exchange rate tables.”

So this field is a sort of a stop gap so that nobody puts in a drastically different rate.
      Kind regards,
      Leslie

?Ā  Does this come into play if the Multicurrency Setup allows using rates without adding to the table??

      Hi Shari,
I don’t think so (though we don’t use the on-the-fly FX rate )… I think it’s just there to prevent large gaps/varicance between 2 consecutive rate changes (avoid fat-finger typing).. like misplacing a decimal point or adding a zero where it doesn’t belong.

?Thanks Ā  Two of our divisional offices manually enter exchange rates on transactions where they have prepaid an invoice in USD so that the PO receipt will equal the payment without creating a “paper” exchange rate.?? But it sounds like this is something different.
