posting interrupted
Posted by gamancherla@abhow.com on February 14, 2018 at 12:17 pm-
HiĀ
We are frequently experiencing ” posting Interrupted ” issue when trying to post a batch. When we go to Batch recovery it says ” no batches marked for posting- we affiliated with another entity and users in that entity are experiencing this issue very regularly- Is this user issue or set up issue?he person who is posting has access to Post JEs. Every time we have this issue we are approaching out IT team to fix the issue. As a power user I do not know what to do. Any help to find out the root cause of this error would be highly appreicated.
Thanks
Gayathri

Hi
Couple questions:
1.Ā You mention this may be an affiliated with another entity…are you using inter-company?
2.Ā The user that is having the issue are they connecting to GP via a VPN?
3.Ā Is the user using an integration to bring the transactions into the batches?
4.Ā You said you’re setup as a power user…if you post the same transaction do you have the same issue or no issue at all? Ā?

Gayathri,
I have had customers with this issue in the past who were using RDP, Citrix or other remote connections in GP.Ā This is not a great solution, but if your network does have connection issues you could try to do a local install and see if you are still having the same issue.Ā This did resolve our issues with our customer so we then learned it was an issue with their network stability for their remote application.
Hope this might help,

Hi ,
I would agree with Tanya on this one.Ā The majority of the time when users complain of frequent failed postings it is network related.Ā The frustrating part is that the network itself doesn’t tend to show anything wrong.Ā We had a specific switch on a network causing grief one time, and that took forever to track down.
Have you had your DBA do any kind of monitoring on the server?Ā Sometimes the failed postings can be related to poor performance on the server as well.
Cheers,
Rod?

And one last thought to add to this.Ā We’ve seen issues like this with users who use laptops with wifi.Ā The laptops toggle between wifi and the cabled connection and GP sees it almost list a dropped connection.Ā For our scenario, we made sure the wifi was disabled for laptops when in the office and connected via network cable (docking station).
Thanks

+1I personnaly witnessed on my laptop this frustrating behavior of the Wi-Fi card that is not disabled automatically when it’s sitting on the docking station, though the BIOS settings should manage this (auto-off wireless when using LAN adapater from docking).. This has worked some time when the laptop was brand new, but after several months and several updatees later, it doesn’t work anymore and I have to remember to enable the ‘Airplane Mode’ in Windows 10 or press the button on my HP laptop.. this disables every radio device in the laptop, but leaves the LAN adapter working.. (unfortunately BlueTooth is gone too)..
Having both adapter active at the same time caused often times delays when connecting SSMS to my SQL servers, or even worse, couldn’t find it all, since the Wi-Fi network is not connected to the Corporate network without using the VPN (who would do that in the office ??? š )

?Hi
I agree with my colleagues above.Ā However, I have also found that Firewall and anitvirusesĀ can cause this issue.Ā Here are some settings I refer my clients to in regards the their firewall and anti-virus settings and this has resolved a number of these issues.
I would say that if you know that your IT department has implemented aĀ fix for any virus or implemented new virus/firewall procedures, then this may be your culprit.
ĀFirewall Settings:
OUTBOUND PORT
- In the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security, in the left pane, right-click Outbound Rules, and then click New Rule in the action pane.
- In the Rule Type dialog box, select Port, and then click Next.
- In the Protocol and Ports dialog box, select TCP. Select Specific local ports, and then type the port number of the instance of the Database Engine, such as 1433 for the default instance. Click Next.
- In the Action dialog box, select Allow the connection, and then click Next.
- In the Profile dialog box, select any profiles that describe the computer connection environment when you want to connect to the Database Engine, and then click Next.
- In the Name dialog box, type a name and description for this rule, and then click Finish.
Ā INBOUND PORT

4.In the Action dialog box, select Allow the connection, and then click Next.
- In the Profile dialog box, select any profiles that describe the computer connection environment when you want to connect to the Database Engine, and then click next. In the Name dialog box, type a name and description for this rule, and then click Finish.
INBOUND RULE FOR SQLSERVER.EXE TO BE ACCESSED
1.In the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security, in the left pane, right-click Inbound Rules, and then click New Rule in the action pane.
2.In the Rule Type dialog box, select Program, and then click Next.
- In the Program dialog box, select This program path. Click Browse, and navigate to the instance of SQL Server that you want to access through the firewall, and then click Open. By default, SQL Server is at: C:ProgramFilesMicrosoftSQLServerMSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLBinnSqlservr.exe.
4.Click Next.
- In the Action dialog box, select Allow the connection, and then click Next.
- In the Profile dialog box, select any profiles that describe the computer connection environment when you want to connect to the Database Engine, and then click Next.
- In the Name dialog box, type a name and description for this rule, and then click Finish.
