Is there a way to have Ohio workers compensation wages calculate after section 125 deductions have been taken?  I had an Ohio wage audit, and I was told we were paying too much, because we weren’t deducting these from wages.

      Hi Pamela,

You can modify the Ohio unemployment setup record (Tools > Setup > Payroll > Unemployment Tax) and select to include the deduction codes that represent amounts withheld for your section 125 plan.

      Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have already done this.  It only effects the unemployment wages, and not the worker’s comp wages.  Ohio Worker’s comp wages are still coming through as the total gross wages, so overstated by sect. 125 deductions.

      Any other thoughts?

      ?Hi Pamela:

We have run into the same issue but our situation is a little more flexible because we are self insured. I have found the only way to change the calculated WC is to adjust the WC rate in GP?. I calculate what the rate would be based on historical gross wages and deductions. However, when you process your payments to WC you would use actual data to determine your liability. The good news is since it is an employer only liability and if GP calculates too much or too little you can make an adjustment to your GL (Liability & Expense accounts) once you make your payments.

      Thanks for the great post.
