Is it possible to have a line item on a sales order with a negative value?

A sales order can have negative non-inventory items but you can’t enter a negative quantity for an inventory item. 

An invoice, however, can have a negative inventory quantity.

Quick question relating to the negative inventory quantity on a Sales Invoice.  Does the negative inventory item on the Sales Invoice still update the inventory subledger? Just curious as to why a negative amount is okay on the Sales Invoice, but not on the Sales Order.  Thanks.
