We have been using GP Manufacturing for 2 1/2 years now, and I believe we are at the point where I want to start exploring the use of MRP. I have attended an Academy training session, and read the Accolade manuals regarding MRP. Are there any other educational resources out there, beyond calling on our partner, that can help guide me through understanding MRP?

Hi Jeff,

Microsoft used to have a training class with a trainign guide (8817) about GP Manufacturing. I still have a paper soft-cover version in my office, applying to GP10, and about 600 pages thick.. The module hasn’t change that much between the never release I believe.

You should be able to find the PDF version online on Customer Source or MS Training. I don’t think they release any updated version of this.

If you can’t find it, let me know, I may have an electronic version somewhere.

Hi Jeff,

Depending on your teams knowledge level of MRP concepts, you may wan to invest in MRP training for key personnel and have the training delivered by APICS.  This will help bridge the required business knowledge of MRP concepts separately from the technical workings of Great Plains.  Here’s the link to APICS national website. http://www.apics.org/ There is probably a local chapter in or near Romulus :  APICS

A good 3rd party resource that focus on GP functionality in MRP  is Manufacturing Resource Partners:  Here is there contact information: 

Finally, the MS printable documentation, Manufacturing Planning Functions, provide good GP specific information on use and set-up MRP..
