I’ve run into an interesting error message when modifying a template.Ā
Story so far…. I opened the template in Report Writer and made all of the changes that I needed to there. Saved the .xml file (actually have the original .xml and a revised .xml). Created the template in Report Template Maintenance. Clicked Modify to open it in Word. Did all of the modifications in Word, using the revised .xml.
Now I am back to uploading the revised template in the Report Template Maintenance window. When I click the revised template to overwrite it with my new one, I get this message:
I think it has something to do with the fact that in the XML Source list, there are 2 different .xml files.Ā I’ve tried removing the incorrect one, but it doesn’t go away.Ā Ā I think this is the problem because all of my other modified templates work (eventually).Ā This is the only one where I’ve modified the actual field names in Report Writer.
Any suggestions?

Jennifer,
One thing that happens is that the template is perfect but this message appears. I have found that to be the case when the template is still open in word when you try to add it to the window.
Hope this helps!

Ron, Thanks for the tip.Ā Unfortunately, it wasn’t open in Word any of the times I’ve gotten the message (either on my machine or on the server, since I was using Remote Desktop to take care of it).
