Does anybody have delays when logging into GP. It has taken over a 1 minute to get into GP for all of our users.

Hi Steve,
It takes about a minute for us to get into GP too. This is due mostly to running Rockton Auditor, but even before then there was a delay because of the number of modules and third party software we have installed.

After you login to GP click on customize this page in the top right and turn everything off and see if it improves. Also look at your 3rd party modules one of them may be significantly slowing down the logon process. Rocktons products are famous for that.Sent from my iPhone

We have the same problem. We do have 3rd party products, but we did before as well. It seems to have started about 6 months ago, and our IT department can’t find the cause.

Are all your Dictionary files local, or in a shared location, i.e. are all the files in the Dynamics.set file local?

A couple of troubleshooting steps.1. Can someone try to log into GP from the server?
A. If it is slow logging directly into the server, have your DBA check the maintenance on the database(s).
B. Also check the virus scan on the SQL server and GP application server to ensure the right files are excluded. If realtime scanning is in place, it could be a cause.
C.. If it is not slow from the server, then it is probably network related and you will need to have your network team do some traces and evaluation.2. Has there been any new installed on the servers, desktops or network. Things like Service Packs, Updates, Virusscan software etc..
3. Check resources on the server and have your IT department check performance. Is there enough Memory and CPU and they are not being utilized over 75% most of the time.
4. Is the SQL memory tuned. SQL will take all the memory it is given whether it uses it or not. Make sure your DBA does an analysis on the SQL box to make sure it is tuned.Unfortunately there is not one answer but if you check the 4 things above, I would bet you will find your answer.

We have been having the same lag time and it started around 6 months ago like Amy. It is even slow directly on the server.I have checked all of Beth’s suggestions and nothing was found or been changed.
Could it be the result of one of Microsoft’s updates like KB3004394? It caused problems with Microsoft Essentials so we had to remove it from my computer. The updates seem to create havoc with our servers in the way that the servers tend to be sluggish until the install and reboot is done. š
Thanks

Joni, That is what I mean by a change on the server. If KB was installed on the server around the time the lag started, then it might well be the culprit. Since it is slow directly on the server, then it is not desktop or network related. If there have been patches pushed to the server, around that time, my guess it is one of those. Then I would get MS on the phone to work out.
Another trick if it is not a patch, Turn off the VIrusscan service on the server and then launch GP again. What other services or apps are running on the server that are not related to GP or the OS. Stop those services and see if there is an issue. Then if it is faster, turn one service on at a time and try it.

Beth: Thanks for the tips. Our services haven’t changed so I will do some research with MS to see if one of their updates is the culprit. If anyone else has found a solution please post here.
Thanks

Rob has a SQL script that he mentioned in the discussion below. It has helped considerably.
