When I try to inactivate an item, I get the messageĀ “This item is part of an active assembly and cannot be marked inactive.”

I was able to disassociate the item from BoM’s, but it was still giving me an error about being part of any active assembly.Ā  I found a kb article which said there was a bug in the GP code which ignored the closed status of MO’s in the picklist table (PK010033) and therefore tagged the items as active.

A solution suggested by MS and contributors to the article was to delete the line items that reference the item you want to inactivate from PK010033, which I tried in our test environment and it allowed me to inactivate the item.

I wanted to see if anyone has ever had to address this issue and if they’d experienced any issues after deleting lines fromĀ PK010033 or if there were any suggestions for better ways to go about this.

      Thanks!

?While I try to avoid resorting to SQL scripts, simply updating the inactive flag to a value of “1” can accomplish the objective.Ā  In my opinion, it is at least as good of option as deleting items off historical pick lists (which results in inaccurate history).Ā  Something like:

      update iv00101 set inactive=1 where itemnmbr=‘xxxxx’

Hi Austin, rather than go into SQL and remove pick list records I’ve had good results just marking the inactive field in the IV00101 table. For completeness I also change the item to discontinued and make it as obsolete in the item engineering.

Thanks for the input!Ā  Ā I’ll give that a try and follow up with any notes.
