We generally want all users to enter Trade Discounts as a percentage only.

We have attempted to add a password to the “Amount Radio Button” on the Trade Discount form using Field Level Security but have been unsuccessful.

I have attached a screenshot of the Field Level security setup for the “Amount Radio Button”. Ā What are we missing?

?I haven’t tested this, but try using the field ‘Transaction Type’ instead of the Radio button.

?I’m sorry, I just read your message more carefully and see that you don’t want folks to put in a password every time they open the window. You are trying to keep them out of the Amount selection. Have you considered simply taking the Amount Radio button off of the window or hiding it using Modifier?

Unfortunately there are some users (Accounting) that still would need to enter an amount in certain circumstances.

?For the folks that require access to Amount, you can manage it through security by letting one group use the standard window and one group use the modified window. I think you could also use VBA code to add a password.

      HiĀ

Leslie is correct, you need to place the password on the Radio Group that contains the button, not the Radio Buttons themselves.

If you need conditional control, so only ask the password when the one radio button is selected, but not when the other is selected, then that cannot be completed using Field Level Security alone.

You will need some sort of scripting.

This can be achieved with Rockton’s Conditional Field Level Security which adds back the scripting ability that the code I original created had before the scripting was removed when Microsoft acquired Omni Field Security.

You can also use GP Power Tools – Developer Tools module to add custom scripts anywhere in the product, using any combination of Dexterity, SQL, C# and VB.Net.

Or you can use another development tool such as VB (not web client compatible), Dexterity or Visual Studio Tools.

      Hope this helps

      David
