      ?I planning to process an upgrade to an existing 3rd party module but have noticed some peculiarities with GP versions.

      I’m running Dynamics GP 2015 R2 but this is what I’m seeing on the servers runningĀ GP.

      Windows control panel – > Programs and files 14.00.0987.000
      In GP -> “Help About” I’m seeing 14.00.0983 (R2)

      Why do I see different version numbers?

      Hi
      Don’t rely on the windows control pannel for the GP version.. it might only refer to the current dexterity version.
      If you don’t have a nice tool like Rockton’s Toolbox “Version Pro Products” report, which shows you every individual module & 3rd party installed in Ā GP, you’ll need to dig into the DYNAMICS..DU000020 table to find out.Ā  The main GP dictionnary has the ID ‘0’.
      Version Pro Products list the installed version on a particular GP client and compares it with what’s registered in the system.. this way you can quickly spot (and alert by e-mail) any client discrepancies vs. the server and prevent a user to login to GP..

      The DU000020 table will show you the same information, just not nicely formated, though you can always create your own Excel report and just keep the essential data.

      PS: the DU000020 table will also not show you the product name.. only the ID. Not sure you can find this in a table, I never really bothered as I always had the Rockton Toolbox. You’ll likely have to lookup the product name in Google. Another way to find out the product list installed on your GP server would be to use the GPPT (GP Power Tools) from Mekorma, that would allow you easily identify the product, and much more !! You can try it out for free 30 days.

      PPS: it looks like that this information is not readily available.. I found Leslie Vail’s blog post from a few years back that list the official Microsoft modules.. but not the 3rd parties..

      There is a KB about how to request a product ID from Microsoft.. You may ask your partner to get an actual list.

      PPPS: wrote an excellent blog post back in 2013 about the topic
