… how’s that working out? The little research I’ve done so far seems to indicate that purchase requisitions are limited to employee supply items?! Anyone with experience along these lines?

What we’re looking to do is to have our various warehouses enter their own purchase requisitions… but they’d be for things like shrink wrap and pallets and such. We’re hoping that the GP web interface coupled with Self-Serve licenses (we have an Enterprise license for SQL Server) in GP 2016 will fill the bill.

      Regards,

      Steve,
Since no one chimed in, I’ll at least respond. šŸ™‚   We have a customer who is planning to go live with ESS users for POs/Reqs this year.  They will have quite a few users (20+) who will be entering just Reqs.   Our problem in the planning stage is they have a ton of really detailed workflow steps.  Since you can only have 1 workflow live per trx type, we have to spend at least a day mapping out the workflow so we can get all the if/then and next logic correct.

They’re also replacing an in-house custom built inventory system at the same time, so it will be a while before we have it all transitioned – lots of moving parts.

So I don’t have a “how is it working” answer, but I do have a “we’re going to try it” answer.
      Thanks
      Windi

      Windi,

I like your response! Looks like it’s an exciting project! Maybe too exciting!

Is the Employee Self-Service license especially for the GP web interface? Or can someone log into a GP desktop interface and use Self-Service credentials?

      Regards,

The self-serve license can login from the desktop client, but most people set those users to “Web client only” status, so they don’t have a SQL login and can not login to the desktop client.

      Hello Steve:

If the scenario is really complex like the one Windi explained, I would definitely suggest going with a 3rd party requisitions solution like ReQlogichttp://www.reqlogic.com. It is web based, users are super cheap and it gives so much more that GP Requisitions + Workflow. Obviously has GP integration so you can see items and vendor from GP, and all requisitions end up as PO’s in GP. The implementation is super fast, and I’m talking literally 3 or 4 days (including user training). It’s not that expensive if you consider the reduction in consulting hours.

You should see a demo and strongly consider it.

      Hope it helps,
      Carlos.
