      Hi,

I am trying to run my fixed asset register as of a certain date (12/31/16), but the info on the report is as of 1/31/17. Is there a way to set the parameters on the FA register so I can view as of a specific date?

I’m currently going to Smartlist –> Fixed Assets –> Fixed Assets Books –> Fixed asset book balance

      Thanks!

      Robert,
The default Fixed Assets Book SmartList indeed pulls the Net Book Value as of the current point in time.  Since you are looking for the Net Book Value as of the last day of the previous year, what I would do is this:

      1.  Run your existing SmartList.
      2.  Click on the Columns button, click Add, select YTD Depreciation Amount, and then Click OK.
      3.  Click Excel to send the report to Excel.
      4.  Click in cell H2 (if using the default Smart List + our one added column) and type the following calculation:  =F2+G2
      5.  Copy the calculation down all of column H so your column H is now the current net book value + the YTD Depreciation Amount.  In most instances this is your Net Book Value for the Last Day of the Previous Year.

Victoria Yudin on her blog has a far more sophisticated but then more complex view on her page (https://victoriayudin.com/2011/02/15/yearly-fixed-assets-depreciation-totals-in-dynamics-gp/), but the above should suffice.

      Happy Reporting!
