      ?Good Morning!

For those who are multi-currency, do you use exchange rate feed software to populate rates in your currency tables? If so, what software do you use, and where are they getting the rates?

We use Olympic and got rates through ComFex for several years, but switched to Yahoo about a year ago. Unfortunately Yahoo stopped working, and the alternatives provided to us by Olympic don’t meet our needs due toĀ our large number of exotic currencies and currencyĀ pairs.

Any and all information is greatly appreciated.
      Thanks!

      Hey
      Check out http://envisagesoftware.com/exchange-rate-feed-for-dynamics-gp/
We looked at this for a customer recently and we were really happy with the pricing and it can import from several different services.
      Thanks
      Windi?

I implemented this solution 5-6 years back. We only had 5-6 different currencies and it worked well.Ā  If you accept Google Finance feed, it should work for you.Ā  I can’t remember how many different feeds they have, at least 3 at the time I used.Ā  Check w them.Ā Ā

      ?Thanks and !

Our partner mentioned Envisage and I will check into Expsoltech too.

A question for the two of you, are you valuing exotic currencies? The majority of the 46 currencies we need to value are exotic, mostly from Africa and SE Asia. ?Our biggest roadblock has been finding a service that can provide those rates.

No, only CAD, pounds and Middle East currencies.

I do remember the software itself is flexible where you could define/add the feed; Or, ask them to change/add the feed for you. I thought we were using Oanda feed back then but couldn’t remember.Ā  I need to take it easy on single malt ;-)——————————————-

I’m most familiar with Olympic Systems.

But MVP Mohammad has written one that could help you.

Not sure about exotic rates, but the info I have from envisage says:
Exchange rates can be sourced from a number of free currency web service sites. Alternatively, you can connect the application to a paid subscription web service like http://www.xe.com/ or http://www.oanda.com/Ā Ā

I looked at those two sites and they have on-website-converters that have a ton of rates so maybe that will give you a glimpse into what rates they facilitate.
      Thanks
      Windi?

      Hi Shari

The Exchange Rate Feed from Envisage can connect to the following free currency services

      –Ā Ā http://api.openrates.io/latest?base={0}
      –Ā Ā http://free.currencyconverterapi.com/api/v3/convert?q={0}_{1}&compact=y
      –Ā Ā http://www.bankofcanada.ca/valet/fx_rss/FX{0}CAD

Note: in the URL examples,Ā  replace {X} values with relevant ISO currency code.

There are two subscription sites the application can connectĀ to (www.oanda.com and http://www.xe.com) but these have expensive monthly subscription fees.

Some new currency subscription sites are now coming online that convert all currencies and are reasonably priced.Ā  ( ie.Ā  https://fixer.io/productĀ )Ā

      Hope this information helps.

?Also, some banks will provide this data to you free of charge, if you ask. I have an FTP job pull a small text fileĀ from BOA nightly and consume it using SmartConnect into GP.Ā  169 different country currencies, although we only use GBP at the moment.

When you have a hammer (SmartConnect), everything starts to look like a Nail.
